Happy Halloween!

Well, Happy Halloween from our purple dragon! Ro's costume fit perfectly and was nice and warm for her evening outing.

This is her saying "cheese"

Note her finished painted pumpkin project....with some of Mama's finishing touches....

Trick or Treating!

Well, I thought we would both dress up to head out for some trick or treats. By the second house she had it, and was adamantly, independantly running up the driveways, then stopping short at the stairs and waving at the doors as her means of trying to get attention. Once I got her up to the door and she recieved her treat, she made sure to pull it back out of the bucket to inspect it and often comment on it to whomever gave it to her. If she could get in a visit with any dog that happened to be in the house, it was all the better.

We let her have a couple of pieces of candy when she got home....

I think she liked it....
Oh, and she was asking for her "buh-et" (bucket) at breakfast the next day, so we have since had to hide it....

Colin's 1st Birthday

Last Friday we had the pleasure of heading over to the Finlayson's for Colin's 1st birthday party. Of course, it was a first rate party done up "Cath" style...good food, good wine and good friends.
I specially picked out a party outfit for Rowan, which Andrian obliged and made sure that she wore.

After lots of playing with the ample toys, ballons and party favours (yes, there were party favours for the kids), Rowan tried out the new piano that Colin recieved for his birthday, and proceeded to put on her own little recital.

Shampoo Hairdo

It's been a long time since I posted Ro's shampoo mohawk, so I thought I'd post another bathtime pic....this is more the shampoo buffont...

Pumpkin Preparations

To let the kids partake in getting ready for Halloween Cath and the kids came over and we had them paint their pumpkins instead of carving them. By the end of the hour, Ro was covered in paint, but very happy to be so. Since that day, not a day goes by where she doesn't ask if she can do some "ainty" (painting). Our budding little artist....

Ride 'em Teak!

A couple of weeks ago Rowan decided that she was going to try and ride Teak. Being the good and patient dog that he is, he simply sat there and allowed her to crawl off and on, off and on...like a cowgirl slowly getting on a steer in the chute, she slowly eased her way onto his back, and then just sat there with a handful of neck fur in the hand. The one pic that he's making a face, he was just yawning, nothing more...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, it's hard to believe that it's practically mid-October already! As you can see from the above, Rowan thoroughly enjoyed her thanksgiving dinner, especially the pumpkin pie part of it! We made our own little turkey dinner for just the three of us, and we'll be eating turkey for the remainder of the week.
As many of you know, I've had the past week (well, 12 days) off from work as I took some time so that Andrian could head up north to hunt for his moose. He was gone almost a week, and while they saw several moose, they didn't make it easy. But this past Saturday he came through and brought a moose home (didn't include pics of this as is not appreciated by all). But Rowan took one look at what was in the garage and said "moose!" She's her father's daughter...
So anyways, while all this was going on, I had convinced Nana to come up to visit so that she could spend some time with Rowan while I worked on some home improvements (new bedroom pics you'll see below). I spent the better part of a week painting, cleaning and re-decorating, and it's nice to have a fresh, clean bedroom again (like when we moved in 6 years ago!). Rowan and Nana had some quality time going to the park, going shopping, reading books and colouring. It was nice to be home for the week and feel back in the routine of being home and spending time with Rowan. I am sometimes shocked at how quickly she is growing up. Not only is she trying new skills, like jumping and walking on her tip-toes, but her vocabulary is growing everyday and it almost feels like you can have a conversation with her. Most of the time she's right in whatever observation she is trying to make and I am slow on the uptake to figure it out. It was only a few months ago that Dr. Lewis wanted to make sure that she had 6 words solid and now I can't even keep up to counting them....new favourite words; fries (asks for them at every meal), Happy Feet (the movie - wants to watch it every day), movie, moon, colouring (cah-lur-lur). Anyways, it's all good and our week together has been lots of fun.
Here's a few posts to keep you updated on her goings-on....

New Bedroom!

So it's not exactly what I had in my vision, but I'm happy with it. The paint turned out to be more of a silver/blue/gray colour, especially in the light in the bathroom. But it looks good with the duvet, and the browns all tied in very nicely. A few new pieces of artwork on the walls, and some baskets in the bathroom to better organize "stuff" and we're good for another 5-6 years! While it looks nice and clean in these pics, I assure you, it's back to it's "lived-in" state already!

Mama! Tato!

These days Ro loves to run around yelling for Mama and Tato! I can't even tell you how many times she asked for him when he was gone for a week....

Rowan loves to do her "cah-lur-lur" (colouring), so Tato took some time to evaluate her penmanship!

Where's My Baby?

Just to show how much Rowan is looking like a little girl these days...

Bucket-Head!

So this is a halloween bucket that Nana bought for Rowan, only Rowan thinks it's the greatest hat. She did it to all three of us (Nana, Tato and me), where she runs up to you with the bucket saying, "hat, hat, hat!" and insists that you put it on your head. When you do, she has a little giggle, as if to say, "you idiot, you have a bucket on your head", and then goes back to whatever she was doing. But if you dare take it off, she keeps yelling, "hat, hat, hat!" and waits till you put it back on your head. This went on much too long, but I thought it was worthy of a picture (even if at my own expense), cause no wonder it makes her giggle!

Hanging with Friends

A couple of weekends ago, Cath brought Kate and Colin over for dinner, and as you can see here, they play pretty well, and try to stay in a 3-square foot area! I was surprised when we reviewed the pics on the camera and Rowan simply told me that there were "Kate" and "Cah-win". Totally gets who her buddies are!

Random Ro-ness

Well, Rowan still loves her books and will sit to read them frequently throughout the day. And that's in addition to the books that we read her (each of them at least 2x/day!). And she still loves her hats, trying on any that she can find and wearing them around the house, just for fun...

This one, it just cracks me up....

More Family Visiting

In late August the Stager family came up to spend a weekend and visit with us. We lucked out with the weather, and so were able to spend some time outside, where Rowan and Kayden enjoyed the pool and the grass.
By the way, has anyone noticed how we don't make it into the pics anymore?

Oh, and Teak's no dummy, he knows where to be when breakfast is served.
