New Favourite Activites

Rowan has a few new activities that are now in the daily agenda of events. There is hugging, kissing and pulling Dolly's hair out (which we subsequently find all over the house), chasing (or hiding from) bubbles, dropping or throwing things on the floor and then graciously picking them up (making a point to show us that she is doing us this great favour), and monitoring Tato's time on the computer, and letting him know he has been on long enough by diligently pushing any buttons she can reach to in efforts to disrupt him. In all seriousness, I am continually shocked at the skills she has gained, and most so when I return home from a week away. She continues to talk to us in what seem like complete non-sensical sentences, and looks at us like we're idiots when we don't get it. Oh, and lastly, one of her funnier traits is she apparently doesn't like when things fall on the floor, such as tea towels. When she sees such a tragedy, she unleases in a voice that I can only describe as borderline panic and scolding all rolled into one, pointing to the errant object so that we can quickly rescue it from the floor. Of course, the same rules do not seem to apply to the fridge magnets, which she happily removes and throws across the kitchen floor, one by one. Day after day she cracks me up.....

Kate's 2!

The first weekend in March had us over to the Finlayson's to celebrate Kate's 2nd birthday. Kate loves her best friend "Rowa" although I think the jury's still out on Rowan's feelings on the whole matter. We're not sure yet if this is going to be a love/hate relationship, but either way, given the amount of time we are with the Fins, they are going to have to work it out one way or another! But on this particular occassion, a good time was had by all.

Winter Firepit

A couple of weeks ago we had a particularly nice Saturday that we wanted to enjoy. Once Tato dug out the seating area, we decided to fire up the firepit and sit outside for a bit. Rowan was styling in her snowsuit and sunglasses, and she actually seems to get the concept that they help her see when it's bright out, so she pretty much leaves them on and they are now a staple item during sunny dogwalking sessions. Anyways, she was quite content to sit and watch the fire, but for some reason it wasn't enough for her parents, so we thought it would be funny to put her in the snow bank. She really didn't seem to mind....but couldn't quite understand the stability of having your lower half stuck in snow.

Visit with Pra-Baba

So Last week I had to take another trip to Lethbridge for work, and we were lucky to have the Tityk's send in reinforcements in the form of Pra Baba! Not only does it give her a chance to spend some quality time with Rowan, but it certainly helps us out by having another set of hands and eyes around. Andrian has been able to maintain his evening classes thanks to Pra Baba's babysitting. However we've been told that when she's preparing for her trip to Edmonton, she is telling Makaila (our neice) that she is "going on vacation", because last time Pra Baba told Mak she was coming to Edmonton to visit Rowan, Mak insisted that she needed to go with her to help as well, and ultimately it resulted in a bit of a Maky-meltdown! So Baba was going "on vacation" this time, to a non-specified location, for a well deserved break.....yeah, right!

March!

Well, we've made it to March. Rowan is more than 14 months now and it just hardly seems possible (or right, for that matter) that she should continue to grow up while I am off at work! But she is doing great and keeping her Tato busy. She loves to walk (still with help or with her new walker) or run around the house and has decided that the new funnest game on earth is to chase either Tato or Teak (whoever is the lucky subject!) around the kitchen island. She still talks up a storm; mostly lots of unidentifiable jiberish...but she has a point to make nonetheless. Anyways, not much else new around here....as always, it's like Groundhog Day....

Growing up!

Just a few recent pics that I thought I'd post....she's looking like such a little girl these days I can't get over it. But I guess that is what is supposed to happen, right....

"That Baby"

So I know this is an odd picture, but when Rowan has her bath, she is facinated by her reflection in the drain cover. She always has to check and see what "that baby" is doing, and repeatedly say "hhhiiiii" to the baby. Sometimes she tries to get really close to give "that baby" kisses. Makes me laugh everytime...
