Jasper in April

Right before
Easter we thought we would take a little family getaway to Jasper. We all piled in the truck and we were off! After stopping in Edson for some lunch, we managed to find a cut line off the highway where we could pull over and let Teak out for a bit of a run. It was nice enough that we could all get out and have a little tailgate picnic....Rowan's first taste of A&W burger and fries! We managed to get to our cabin in the afternoon, and had time to sit out and enjoy playing in the grass. Of course I had grandiose visions of "quality family time", but was quickly brought back to reality when Ro refused to sleep Thursday night and Teak decided throw up at about 5:45am! Oh well, you've got to try, right?

Happy Easter

Nana and Grampa K came up for a visit over Easter weekend. Of course there were plenty of Easter presents from everyone, and even Teak had to check it out.
It was nice enough to spend a little time in the backyard, even though the yard work was just getting underway.

Backyard View

Now that Rowan is up and moving about freely, this is one of her favourite places to stand and watch what is going on...unfortunately this was the view this past weekend (April 26th!). Her other favourite place is the front door, of course!

Latest Talents

A few new tricks in the last couple of weeks....
- on dog walks she is now saying "hiiiieee!" to all the dog friends she meets
- started waving goodbye and giving a smile to Mama on work days as I get set to go (previously would simply cry as I was heading for the door).
- during bath time indicates that Mama should hold the funnel toy that drips water so that she can dunk her head under it and try to catch the water on her tongue
- made the (sign language) sign for "more" a few different times this week to indicate what she wanted....more bubbles to play with, more noodles, more kisses from Tato...that was pretty cool!
- when I came home the other day, Andrian said, "Mama's home!" and she said, "yeah".
- oh, and has started to consistently feed Teak from her tray during mealtimes...we're not crazy about this one! Although it was noted tonight that she didn't give Teak any of the really good stuff, namely the yoghurt covered O's....they were all for Rowan!
Good Times!!!

So Close....

Well, as has been mentioned in previous posts, Ro is getting very proficient in getting herself around the main floor via walls, furniture and the odd living being to transfer from one to the other. She enjoys doing laps around the island, and we have left one solitary tuperware cupboard for her to discover and explore. She is down to one hand - one finger walking, and has even taken a few steps on her own when she wasn't thinking about it. She is so close and just needs little more confidence to make it on her own....won't be long now...

BFF's!

There is quite the friendship budding between Rowan and Teak. He, of course, sees a never ending supply of table scraps, and she sees fur to burrow her face in. As Rowan becomes increasingly mobile, she relentlessly follows Teak around the house and roams from the front door to the back door to find him. "Chasing Teak" is a great game that brings forth ear splitting screams of joy!

Spaghetti night

One of our messier dinners, but did she ever enjoy spaghetti night! Good view of the (still only!) 2 teeth though!
