More With BFF Teak

The bond between Rowan and Teak continues to grow...especially around snack time! Now that Ro carries around her own snack (that Teak can't get his big nose into), we often find him sitting patiently at her feet. She will make sure that she gets what she wants, but then the fun ensues as it's the best game in the world to throw bits of snack and watch Teak snatch it up. Even better is if you drop it on your clothes...the giggles that come as Teak pushes her around the floor trying to get the food out from underneath her! But it always ends with pats and kisses for Teak....

New Tricks & Talents

New Trick: taking the mini (plastic) liquor bottles out of the cupboard and playing (solo) "spin the bottle". A little too early for Tato's liking, I'm thinking....who am I kidding...never would be too early, no??

New Talent: this dress up tutu was given to Rowan by a friend and now she loves to wear it and parade around in her flowing skirt...oh, and of course she likes to put it on her head and run around as well. Tato is very hopeful for his budding dancer...

New Talent: now that Ro has some upper chompers (four teeth on top) she REALLY enjoyed our last rib night. She has always liked Mama's lemon grass ribs, but now she is entertained by cleaning the bone off completely. I think this one lasted a good 20 minutes!

Visit from Calgary Troop

At the end of July Lena brought Mak and Jack up for a visit for a few days. Luckily it was a nice weekend weather-wise and we were able to have some quality outdoor time - another pool party in the backyard! Complete with Lena giving helicopter rides, and wrestling with Uncle Yani. My job? I was on blender drink duty!!

Hat Girl

Some girls like to try on shoes, but Ro's pretty much determined she's a hat girl. Everything she touches, she puts on her head....the wash cloth, the tea towel, Tato's dirty socks and Mama's misplaced underwear! But every now and then she actually finds a hat, and wears it with pride!

Summer Fun at the Lake

A couple weekends ago Rowan and I were invited to spend the day out on Wabamun Lake with Dave, Chris and their girls. Rowan could not be torn away from the sandy beach (not even for a nap!) and sat all afternoon just shovelling sand...a goodly portion which ended up in her hair. While she didn't seen to like standing in the water on her own, she definately enjoyed floating in the baby tube. A boat ride and a bbq rounded out the day before the drive home.

Visit to Calgary

Last weekend we made a trip down to Calgary for a quick visit and it was fun to watch the cousins play. They had so many different, cool toys to play with, and it's always fun to wrestle with Uncle Yani, especially when the three of them gang up on him. There was lots of laughing together, lots of hugs and the occassional game of 'tag', which Rowan totally didn't get, but she loved the running around and screaming with glee part of it....

Ro's First Pigtails!

I've been thinking that Ro's mop 'o hair must be getting pretty close to being long enough for pigtails so I thought I would give it a shot the other night....OMG how cute is that?!? Too bad she's not to the point of letting them stay in a bit longer...but we'll keep working at it.
